The famed and legendary ‘Precious Wentletrap’ from Western Pacific deep waters.
Ever popular due to it’s wonderful shape and structure, this shell was at one time a great rarity – so much so that it is said that enterprising Oriental craftsmen supposedly made rice-flour paste countefeits. The fraud was only detected when the shell was washed and fell apart !
It is doubtful that any of these so called fakes have ever been discovered or appeared in any collection – to date !
Approx sizes from
4.5cm to 5cm. Please be aware that there will be occasional small chips on the vertical ribs, but they don’t detract in anyway from an otherwise fabulous shell.
